With a temporary work visa, you can come to Australia to work temporarily. Your visa may have conditions that permit only certain types of work or work with a specific employer.

Also classified as a temporary visa, a provisional visa offers a route to permanent residency. It may be possible for you to apply for the permanent visa that corresponds with the provisional visa.

Regional Visas

Skilled migrants and their dependent family members who wish to live and work in regional Australia can apply for the following skilled regional provisional visas. ​

  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) – intended for individuals who have received a nomination from a State or Territory government or sponsorship from a qualified family member to reside and work in regional Australia.
  • Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494) – designed for individuals who have employer sponsorship in regional Australia
